Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground on Sanibel Island

Perwinkle Trailer Park and Campground

Camping and Sanibel Island are not usually two ideas that are associated. So for a vacation camping destination Sanibel Island has only one choice spot and that is the Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground located off Periwinkle Way. This campsite is the only active camping site on Sanibel Island.
This is a well known campground which includes full hookups for recreation vehicles, sites for motorhomes, pop up campers and tent sites. There are facilities on site for hot showers, restrooms, laundry, picnic tables, ice, LP gas and a pavilion to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. If you travel with a recreational vehicle the campground offers complete electrical, water and sewer hookups. The tent sites are secluded and are available with shaded areas for the convenience of their campers.

Restaurants, grocery stores and shops are all just a few minutes walk or ride away. The beautiful beaches are a 10 minutes stroll from the campground. There are so many activities to participate on the island such as bicycling, boat rentals, canoeing, shelling and boat cruises. You will never lack for entertainment on Sanibel Island.

A note for those who plan to tent camp, be aware that when it rains on Sanibel, it rains! Meaning there will be a lot of standing water on the ground and roadways. Prepare yourself for this inevitability when ground tent camping on Sanibel Island.

As mentioned earlier bike riding is a huge activity on the island. If you can't bring your bikes with you, there are several places to rent bikes, including Finnimore's Cycle Shop off of Periwinkle Way. Plus it is a great way to get around the island and see the sites. Many restaurants have set aside areas for bike "parking".

Lemur

If finding great island attractions is your interest, the Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground offers you everything right here. This Sanibel Island camping ground has long been considered a bird lover’s paradise mainly for the reason that Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground features a number of species of exotic and native birds such as toucans and macaws. If you feel like camping elsewhere on the island please note that camping on Sanibel Island is not permitted in any of the island’s preserves. So for those who are seeking an encounter with nature, Sanibel Island has a wonderful state park that offers both tent camping and RV sites with full hookups – the Periwinkle Trailer Park and Campground.
